If this car is a 325 you should be able to use a Bosch replacement
sensor. They don't have a 'three-wire' universal part number but you can
use Bosch #13942 for a universal. It works for my 535i and 86' 325e.
You'll have to put the BMW plug on it but that's easy. This Bosch number
is for a 1990 5.0L Mustang. Many on the digest have used it. Much
cheaper ($40 US) than what BMW wants or what parts stores want as a BMW
replacment part.

On checking out a sensor you must remember that they can get 'lazy/slow'
responding. It's just as bad as a total failure in my view. Look for a
optimum of .8 volts for good sensors.
Good luck.
