Rolex 24 Hrs
Brief update:
- - Team ORECA, the factory GT2 Viper team, has now anounced an entry.
The new Vettes are walking away with GT2 in testing.
- - Two GT3 Porsches have posted faster test times than the PTG entries
(Let's hope PTG is sandbagging!).
- - The track has decided to use the lights at 20% power! This is a
historic first that will make watching the race a lot more fun, because
you'll actually be able to see the cars; not just the headlights. The
lights were installed last year and have never been used for a sports
car race before.
- - It's going to be one of the largest fields in a while -- more than 65
entries have been testing.
So ... you should go! A couple //M drivers have asked if they could
drive down with some others (hey, non-//M's welcome, too!). I'd be
happy to put you in touch if you e-mail me privately.
Rooms are still available at the 30% BMW CCA discount at the Quality Inn
on the beach ph# 800-874-7517, www.visitdaytona.com/qualinn/. Still
need some more signups to get the CCA hospitality suite. (No
disclaimer, affiliation noted earlier)
I've asked the Suncoast Chapter if they're doing a corral or anything.
Will post what I learn if they don't post it first.
I can't think of a better way to party without warping rotors, can you?
Race is Sat/Sun 1/30 & 1/31. Practice/qualifying the whole week.
