After Market Exhaust Install - Need Help

Just installed a SuperSprint exhaust in my wife's '98 328iC. When I removed
the original exhaust it had a small vacuum hose that attached to what looks
like a close off valve on the right (if looking from the rear of the car)
exhaust tip. The SuperSprint did not have any where to attach this hose. 
What is this hose for? Do I need it? What should I do?
