<E36> Heat mirrors

Now that it's getting rather chilly out here in DC, I noticed my heated
mirror working for the first time (I bought my car 2 months ago). My
driver's side mirror was clearly heated, but the passenger's side wasn't. Is
this normal? Or are both mirrors supposed to be heated? Also, does heated
door locks come with heated mirrors, or are they separate options?
