RE: E30 Fueling (or lack of)

Digesters,
                    I've been able to fill about 45 litres of fuel into my
BMW IF IM LUCKY, for some reason the needle sits on the red and I fill up
but can only fit 45ish litres in.  Hmmmmmmm.
    Hey, there could be a gremlin in the tank that takes up space?
