E38, 740 with a Manual 6 speed?

Is this combination built by BMW? Anywhere in the world?
I am thinking about ordering another E38, 740. Maybe a 740 Sport.
I am disappointed with the feel of the automatics.
The Steptronic is better but obviously doesn't provide the control of the manual transmission.
Does anyone have information on manual transmissions and the E38, 7 series
