"Tail light Failure" Warning light (E36)

Grettings,

I just put in some custom rear tail lights in my 95 325I (and I must say 
they look kewel!) and the "tail light falure" warning light comes on 
every time I turn on the lights.  The lights work fine and the warning 
light doesn't come on as long as the lights are turned off.  Any one 
have any similar experiences when putting on custom lights?  How can I 
get that annoying warning light to not come on?  By the way the lights 
are red with clear turning lights and all are smoked, clear and smoked 
turning signals and side markers and the car is black.
