probably two factors:

1) there aren't that many on the road yet
2) it probably has a lot fewer teething problems than the E36

regarding the recent comments on dealer work:

trust me, the quality doesn't get any better when you pay for it yourself.
the 'factory trained' technicians who have done work on my car have seen
fit to crossthread, overtorque and leave the washers off both the coolant
and oil drain plugs.  teenage jiffy lube quality for $98/hr.  the big test
with dealer service is to see what else they can screw up while attempting
to fix the original problem...or not.  funny, the 95% of people who don't
maintain their own cars would never find all the gaffes.  of course, YMMV.
I speak only for my own experiences.

perhaps it's the 'screw it, as long as it's done' attitude that pervades
society now.  but as they say, 'if you want something done right, do it
yourself.'
