If it feels like it's stuck in 3rd gear, it may be the wiring harness
(interior). My buddy's 535is 4 speed auto had similar symptoms and it
turned out that the wiring harness needed a part replaced. I think the
harness is inside the auto tranny. Cost him about $125 (incl. labor).
