Bimmer down under...
Aaron--
I have a 1990 325i and love it! I hope you enjoy, or will enjoy yours
just as much!
If I were you, I'd hit the suspension first. The car has performance
already from that engine, more than the stock suspension can handle.
Get some stiffer lowering springs(Eibach, H&R, Racing Dynamics, etc.),
shocks(bilstein, tokiko, koni, etc.) and some sway bars. These three
items do not effect horsepower at all but they will let you use all of
that horsepower even in the tightest of turns because your car will
remain under your control! I know it's hard to resist the HP kick, I
went that route first but I nearly lost it at 90 MPH on an on ramp and
would have totalled my car and possible totalled me! The car is squishy
stock and needs to be tightened. Once you get the suspension under
control, then go crazy with the HP...Conforti's chip is great, the K&N
is good, as is any cat-back exhaust, these are all standard. Oh, also,
I'd suggest tires, get some AVS intermediates by Yokohama...can't use HP
if you they don't stick, right? These should do the trick.
I would do some web browsing to see who will ship to you because I don't
have any experience in that field...but best of luck to you, it'll be
fun!
