540i Maintenance Manuals

I'm new to this list and this may have been covered previously.

Is there a source decent maintenance manuals and other reference material
out there covering the '95 540i.  I've been told the BMW service manuals
only come on micro fiche.  I want to become more knowledgable about the
internal workings so I know what I am looking at when I open the hood or
craw underneath.

Oh, one other question.  My wife and I are going to Tahoe for T-day, what
is a good source tire cables?
