M coupe on EC article

The article in (last month's?) European Car mentioned that the M coupe
can lap the Nurburgring faster than a 911.  I'm assuming the P-car is
a 996 but is the M coupe the U.S. version?  Is there a euro-engined
version as well?

PS  I dynoed my car along with two Viper GTS coupes, both had close to
439hp at the rear wheels with removed mufflers and K&N intakes. 
Mmmm...perhaps capable of 200mph?  They easily hit 170mph at the front
straight at SIR and it's sorta short.
