Electric superchargers, the solution

Mark and others,

I have an idea, accept all of the math on alternator draw/output and all the
math on the horsepower gain for electric superchargers. Go for it.

Mount the alternator outside the car, on the roof. Then, behind the car, in
the low pressure area, mount a windmill blade, like the ones on the wind
generators on hillsides. It will power the alternator. Then you will not be
losing power and, due to wind power you will have a net gain since energy
other than gasoline is powering the car. This can be refined further by the
use of sails which unfurl upon demand when there is a tailwind. Ever wonder
how a sailboat has HUGE sails and, properly used, they propel the boat forward
despite their wind resistance?

Why don't you ponder the above and leave the electric turbo thread lie. Let's
leave the BMW Digest for BMW specific stuff?
