Help with purchasing an E30 325is!!!

Hey list-

I'm going to purchase an E30 325is, and I was just wondering about the
reliability.  The one I am looking at is an '87, and it has 158,000
miles on it.  All of the major maintenance has been done, but when do
these cars normally wear out?  This one felt pretty tight, so I don't
think it was abused.

Also, did the engines change in the E30's in 1989?  I seem to have heard
that somewhere...  If so, is it worth it to look for an '89 model?  I
seem to remember 121 HP before '89, and 168 after '89...
