<E36> M3 wing brake light & airbag idiot light questions

Hey gang!

A question for all of you out there with an after market wing/spoiler with
an LED brake light.  The installation was easy.  I connected the wing LED to
the left brake light.  All 3 brake lights worked fine and there were no OBC
errors.  About two weeks later (yesterday AM) I got a "1 BRAKE LIGHT
FAILURE" message on the OBC.  The interesting thing is that this message
appeared after one week of not driving the car. (I was out of town)  When I
started the car in the afternoon to drive home, the message got cleared.
This morning again, the same error message.   What's going on here?  Is the
OBC sensing that the original 3rd brake light is disconnected?   Well, it's
not doing it consistently.  Should I have used the original 3rd deck mounted
brake light wire?  Hmm...

Also, lately I've been seeing the airbag light for the first 2 minutes after
starting the car.  Is this something I can clear myself?  I took out the
wrong fuse at one point when I needed to disable my alarm (the passenger
airbag fuse in fact) and the idiot light has been acting like this since
then.
