e36 rear subframe damage

My 93 325is was recently diagnosed with major rear subframe damage. The
left differential mounting point on the rear crossmember is completely
broken. So far I have received estimates for $4000 and $2500 to repair the
damage.

After some research, I've found that I'm not the only one that has
experienced this problem. I'd greatly appreciate to hear anyone's
comments, thoughts, or experience with similar situations. Thanks.
