E30 High Idle



Hey folks:

The Problem
- -------------
1) Idle starts out just fine when cold (700 - 800 RPM).
2) After complete warmup, idle goes up to steady 1100 - 1400 RPM.
3) The idle can be lowered only by holding the brake and "idling/loading" the
    engine down by slowly releasing the clutch until under 800 RPM.
4) After driving another block or so its back up to 1100-1400.

Things Checked:
- -----------------
1) Idle control valve current/"buzzing"
2) Idle control valve action open/close (+12V applied to terminals)
3) Idle control valve action with harness/connector removal while running
4) All inputs checked/verified at the idle control unit connector.
5) All thermo sensors/switches verified
6) Throttle positioner/switch checked
7) O2 sensor verified
8) Idle control valve cleaned
9) All hoses/clamps/vacuum line

Question

Time for a new idle control unit?
Any other ideas before spending $150+
