Yo Brett,

That was Robert Appel at Autocrafters in Manassas Park, VA (703)335-9646.
Robert is a wizard and very fairly priced. There is nothing this man cannot
do with forming metal and applying paint. Any of ya'll want a top flight
paint job - he's the man provided you adhere to the following criteria:

1) No Beaters or Rustbuckets. He won't do 'em.

2) Don't quibble on price. What it is, is what it is. Beat him up on price
for a few hundred dollars and while you may get the discount and feel like
a hero, you've also made Robert unhappy. Do you want a happy or unhappy
painter working on your car?

3) Don't be in a hurry. Robert works on 'Robert-Time'...which is somehow
based on Alignment of the Planets in Sync with the Milky Way. Therefore, a
rough approximation is something like this:
Day or two = 1 week
1 week = 3 weeks
1 month = 10 weeks

My car has 'mild-custom' paint on it in Avus Blue (we used Standox instead
of Glasurit). I could've gone all the way and had Robert put a
"World-of-Wheels" class paint job on it, but I do use it as a track car so
what's the point? Still, I pull into ANY BMW dealership and empty the
sales force into the lot to see the car. They can't quite ever figure out
the paint (and I never tell them). I just wink at them and say very
seriously "Turtle Wax - twelve coats". They nod their heads in agreement.

And I giggle all the way home.
