Synthetic Oil Changes

How is everybody today?
I'm thinking that I would like to switch to synthetic oil. My car has 9,000
miles on it and will get two more BMW-sponsored oil changes before the
3-year service runs out. The dealer says they will use BMW synthetic or
Castrol synthetic at no extra charge if I ask. My plan is to do one oil
change in between "scheduled maintenance", ie every 4,000 miles or so. I
plan on doing all the non BMW-sponsored oil changes myself.
I would like to be consistent with the type of oil I use, which I
understand is beneficial. My tentative plan is to personally use Castrol
synthetic and ask the dealer to do the same. Then after my last
BMW-sponsored oil change I would switch permanently to Mobil 1. Does this
seem like a good strategy? Maybe it's just marketing, but it seems like an
awful lot of enthusiasts who use synthetic use Mobil 1. However, since the
dealer doesn't offer it, I would like to use one of their choices until I
start doing all oil changes myself. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
