88 735i Ellipsoids on E30???

Does anybody know if 88 735i Ellipsoid buckets will mount in an E30? Are the
buckets different? I figure since the lamp diameters are the same, they are
the same ones on the 88-89 E30's.
I haven't had the time to remove the lamps and see for myself. TIA
