BMW Plan 2000 (a little derailing)

One of the biggest things that is being used to
keep service inside dealerships is to make sure
that information and tooling is not available to
those in the independent service market..

Every wonder why you can't buy a BMW cartridge
for the Snap-On Scanner?? The manufacturers can't
get the diagnostic codes..

But you might get them as the result of fully
reverse engineering a DME.. *grin*

And if you had a DATABASE (not easy in CE) of
those codes and some cleverly written software
you might have yourself a reasonably priced tool
to offer DIY'ers and professionals to allow clearing
of fault codes and other cool stuff.

If someone wanted to derail the train called "Plan 2000"
they just might make such a tool and .. well..
promulgate it to the masses..

You get the picture..

My grandfather (God rest his soul) had a saying..

 allow me to paraphrase it..

Just because you don't see my purpose, doesn't
mean it doesn't exist.. Everything for a purpose
