1 Start-up: Handbrake set, Gearbox in neutral, clutch pedal in, Key to
run position, wait 5-7 sec until you hear the fuel pump spin-up and
stabilize (it won't start until fuel pressure is up and stable, so save the
starter and ring-gear), Key to "START", it should "FIRE" with seconds, add
thottle as necessary to establish an 1200 rpm idle. Oil light should go
out within 15-20 sec. Wait 5+ sec after light is out, drive away gentley
(3000 rpm max until water temp up & stabilized). If the engine stalls
because it is still cold **TURN OFF** the headlights prior to restart, as
it helps with fuel pump and starter, and it protects the headlight
filaments from a voltage spike that occurs when the starter (spinning coil)
disengages.
2 BMW's had the turn signal wand on the right until 74' when they switched
over to the left.
