Best way to remove bit of rust on a small scratch?

Hey all,

I have a small scratch on my car that is getting a little bit of rust.
I will buy the BMW touch-up paint to cover up the scratch, but before I
do that, I'd like to remove the rust.  (I also noticed a slight amount
of rust on the metallic part of my door handle near the key hole.)
What's the best way to remove it?  I heard 3M has a product that will do
the trick.  Any suggestions?
