chrome trim options

Does anyone have any expereince with anodizing (black) the chrome that
surrounds the side windows of a '90 325is (other years and models as well). 
It is the piece(s) that runs along the roof gutter as so forth.
I have noticed that on white 3 series' the trim comes black from the
factory.  It also appears that this trim is black on all colors in Europe.  
Any info on the possibilities of just getting the trim set for a white E30
and using that instead of actually removing the trim and having it anodized?
