E36 FRONT STRUT TOWER BAR

Hello Digesters:

I am hoping some of you can advise a little bit...

Would a front strut tower bar put on a stock 93 325i be a slight 
improvement,
waste of money, potentially damaging or just a wannabe slap-on?

Or would the bar go on only after a suspension upgrade?
