E30 M3 coolant temp 3/4 way hot - solved !

     Hi

Thanks for all the response on my '89 M3 running 3/4 way temp in
     stop-and-go-traffic.

In summary, the fan clutch was bad and the fuse to the aux fan was
blown. After changing the fan clutch and the fuse all is cool and
normal. The temp now doesn't go pass 1/2 way.

     By process of elimnation.

Not water pump, because the temp was normal on highway and when car is
     cruising along.

Not thermostat, because the car doen't go to red after a start.

I eliminated the possiblity of a blocked/choked radiator because it
     was change 4 year ago.

No leaks, because I did not loose coolant.

Mail ordered a (expensive M3) fan clutch from Bavauto and replaced it
today and all seems fine. I was told that the 318i (much cheaper) fan
clutch may work on the E30 M3 but I didn't want to risk it.

     Thank all,
     Gak
