We've been having some interesting threads on street racing but maybe it's
time to change the subject.  Here is the situation.  Tonight was a clear
moonlight evening with great visibility.  This being the case, why did I see
at least 15 cars with their foglights on during my 30 minute commute home?
What are these people thinking?  The two worse cases involved a kid in a
Ford Probe that was using just the yellow, tiny foglights as the only
illumination on the entire vehicle.  No headlights, no taillights, no side
markers, just two dimly lit, yellow, pools of lights, and to top it off,
they were at the bottom of the front spoiler, only about 3 inches off the
ground.  He probably thought this was cool, but it's dangerous, stupid and
makes one consider social Darwinism.  These are definetely genes that need
to be removed from the pool.>>

As being a teenager, i think i can answer that question best.  It's a type
of status symbol, something to say my car is better that yours.  But in my
case, i removed the OEM fog lights (wern't working when i picked up my '84
318i) and put on 55watt driving lights, mounted 10" off the ground, and
with the lenses flipped so they flood downwards, and they're also pointed
down, so not to blind people like you.  Yeah they look cool (especially
when i put blue lighting gel in them) but my usually have a purpose.  I CAN
SEE BETTER!  Every new car i've drivin, even the new bimmers, have them,
and i wanted them on my car.  Well now i do.   But you're right, I too
can't stand people who drive during the day with their fog lights on.  And
personally i'm against daytime driving lights.  On a windy road they're
cool, but on the street, or freeway, i just find them to be blinding.  Oh,
and those little round fog lights, i do believe they're illegal (just like
my floods are for not being 20" off the gound, go figure)
