What to do in SoCal?

Greetings and Salutations,

I have a trip planned to SoCal this month. The good thing is it's
free, and I've never been. The bad thing is, it is very tightly
scheduled morning, noon, and night. I am hoping some of the SoCal
Bimwads can suggest some "must sees" just in case I end up with a few
spare hours here and there. I'll arrive on a Thursday afternoon, do
some business, then be staying in beautiful downtown Burbank. Will be
free after dinner. Next day, Friday, more bidness thru lunch, then
travel (by bus!) to San Diego. Busy thru dinner. Saturday, tour of
Balboa Park until Noon, then free until 4 p.m. Busy thru dinner.
Sunday, back (by bus again) to L.A. to catch a flight home.
Other than late hours in the Pasadena area, it doesn't sound like I
have much chance to see anything in L.A. _European Car _ had a little
article about a sports car/ prototype exhibit at the San Diego
Automotive Museum in Balboa Park-any comments? I'd also like to get by
and see Carl Nelson's place, and any other significant spots, but don't
have any idea if I am being realistic, or even if anything worthwhile
would be open on a Saturday afternoon. My prime interests lie in older
BMW's (02's, Coupes, etc) but will be glad to see anything automotive.
Also am wondering if it is worthwhile to bring snorkeling gear for the
San Diego area? I hope I will have time to at least _see_ the Pacific!
Thanks for any suggestions! I guess reply privately, unless this might
be of some interest to others.
