No, it will not fit an E36 car.  The Z3, and 318ti for that matter,
share a
rear suspension design with the E30.  The have differential mounting
points
that are the same as the E30 car with the one large "ear" for a mounting
point.  Unlike the E36 cars whose rear differential covers look like
Mickey
Mouse's head with a mounting ear on each side.
