Hi everybody,
I recently acquired a Remus muffler for my E36 318i. I got it for a really
good price (used). It is a UNIVERSAL model with dual square tips -- and
came from a 95 Acura Integra.
I brought it to a shop, and they jacked the car and we studied under the
car. It seems the muffler won't fit! The BMW muffler is kinked.. the
Remus is straight.. and is a little wider.
I see that on a Honda, the muffler just hangs under the car, so you can
pretty well put any muffler on it.
I was wondering if anybody has any experiences with putting such a
universal muffler in this car. Is the E36 318 really that picky on the
dimensions of the muffler? I believe universal mufflers come in different
sizes.. but the widths and heights only vary by about 1"... the lenths are
usually ~14" or ~19". I think the Remus was 19".
Thanks
