R-134

I have been told by a few people that while R-134 is supposed to be more
environmentally-friendly to the atmosphere, it is more dangerous to handle.
Apparently it's way more carcinogenic, and leaks can obviously be a big
problem.  Is there any truth to this?  Because I would think this would be
an important disadvantage to R-134.
