There is no Year 200 problem with ODBII DMEs. The way in which OBDII
measures fault codes is that when OBDII recieves a fault and triggers the
dreaded check engine light, it measures the time in OPERATING HOURS SINCE
THE FAULT.
In other words if you had a rich condition cause a fault in Santa Barbara
while you were driving to LA and you kept on driving till you got to the
BMW dealer there to fix your problem, it would say that the last fault
occuered say 3 hrs. 35 mins. ago. Ask me how I might know? :-)
There is no date/time clock in ODBII, only a timer. Jim C. can add more
info to this as he knows much more than me.
