[E36] Cabrio Top clunk

Hi guyz...
           When I hit the button to fold down my top these days, I hear what
seems like a metallic 'clunk'.  The top will then stop folding down.  A
light push on the soft top resumes the 'roof-down' process.  Any ideas what
could be wrong?  It folds up nice though.  Hear of any cabrio roof
failures???  Hmmm..
