administrivia: archive format

the relocated bmw list is archived in several ways:

1) the current volume is accessible via majordomo index and get commands

2) the current and previous volumes are accessible via the ftp site (also
browsable via a web browser),

ftp://ftp.digest.net/bmw/

due to a file permission glitch, the most recent digest from the current
volume may be unavailable. majordomo is creating them with restrictive
permissions; i have a job that runs once an hour that fixes the
permissions, while i attempt to figure out just where in @#$@@#$ the code
is that sets the permissions in the first place.

3) the current volume, and some previous ones, are available via MHonArc,
in individual message format at

/bmw/archive/

there is a good chance that i'll get a search engine going here in the near
future, as soon as i have time to evaluate some of the alternatives.

4) the old LWGate format is likely to be restored when i can make some
time; there appears to be a demand for it. it is lower on the priority
queue for two reasons: first, it's a pain to install and configure, and
two, there is no prospect of a search engine anytime in the near future.
