A couple of ideas on the rough idle.

To my knowledge the Motronic 1.1. does not have any idle adjustment.

1. Check the throttle position on the throttle body.  The butterfly
valve in the thottle body should be completely closed.  If it is not,
the idle stabilizer valve may be trying to function at its limit.  There
should be a set screw, with some paint on it.

2. Check the throttle position switch. Are you getting a closed signal
when the throttle is closed?

3.  Has any turned the mixture adjustment screw on the airflow meter?

4.  If you have the yellow BMW Enthusiast Comanion see an article in
there regarding idle problems on an E28.  It may help you.

5. Any fault codes in the Motronic? Check engine light on?
