i'm pretty sure this was one of those big russion jobs or a
tatra, not a unimog. i haven't seen too many unimogs in
paris-dakar coverage.

in addition, the support vehicles are actually racing as well in
the paris-dakar rally. they compete in their own class while still
carrying supplies for the fast guys. at least, that's what i've
been told.

pretty amazing race, and they manage to kill a few competitors,
spectators or even officials every year. the french chap who
originally organized it was killed in a helicopter crash while
overseeing the event five years ago or so. unexpected sandstorm
i think.
