bitchy Drum Brakes

quite often the the starwheel adjuster just can't be turned
because the adjusting mechanism is rusted and frozen,
makes it a bitch to remove!

On the drum, at the place where the brake shoes don't contact, a nice
ridge builds up, and this ridge prevents you from removing the drum.

Often the ridge is corroded, which also makes it expand and makes the
the problem worse.

I have 2 suggestions,

you can use a screwdriver or chisel and hammer to break away the
corroded ridge, often it breaks off quite easily.

You could loosen the bleeder screw to relieve the pressure in the
wheel cylinder, then try to tilt the drum back and forth.
Quite often in hmmm... "garages" (with a time constraint) they whack
away at the drum with a huge sledge hammer!
