Head bolts breaking

Anyone else had a problem with head bolt breakage and subsequent
overheating?  In this case it happened on a 1986 528e.
Alldata says BMW pulled all of original inventory off shelves and
replaced with higher grade strength bolts.
Anyone had any success with getting Beemer to help defray repair expense
costs?
