I've got a question that I hope some of you will/can answer.
The winter is getting ever nearer here in Norway, and I have prepared by
changing the motor oil (and all the other stuff). I'm using the Mobil 1
- - Rally Formula SAE 10-50 oil, which I think is the best. I tested this
oil in another car last winter, and found that it had the same
consistence in -30 degrees Celcius as it had in 0 degrees Celcius.
Now, I have noticed a ticking sound in the engine. The tick is very
noticable the first five seconds after a start in cold weather (around
freezing point). Then the sound goes down to a more easy ticking sound
the next couple of minutes, and then just goes silent. I think this has
to do with the oil getting around in the engine.
Is this a problem for the engine?
Can I do anything to remove the ticking?
Does any of the motor oil add-ins lubricate the motor so that the sound
disappear?
