Scott,

I just recently installed a Metric Mechanic kit in my '88 325is and yes
I had to remove the exhaust, the heat shield, and the driveline to gain
access to the selector shaft. Once you get all that out of the way it's
easy to slide back the spring sleeve and push out the pin. I will say
all the extra work is rewarding when you're finished. Wow what a
reduction in throw and those bronze bushing are nice and tight. I did
however break off one of my downpipe studs. Does anyone have a
recommendation on how to remove broken off studs?
