The "BMW Enthusiasts Companion" also says the M50 is designed with a
dipstick long enough to reach into the sump so that the oil can be pumped
out. Since the canister filter is accessible from above, this means the
whole oil change can be accomplished quickly without raising the car
(which means it should cost even less from a dealer with this equipment).
As a new BMW owner who probably won't do any other work on the car, this
means I don't have to invest in a jack, stands, ramps, and maybe not even
a torque wrench. Has anyone tried it?
