<MISC> kennedy(s), & all that

Brent Smith is the winner of my 36 hour contest:

"If he were alive, what bimmer would JFK be driving"
	Answer: Marilyn Monroe's

[BW: a brilliant answer, but it does beg the Q of which model.
At time of death, she would have used a 2002, but if she's still
living like Elvis, I'm pretty sure she's tooling around in an 850]

Second prize went to someone who argued that liberal rich Irish Catholic
members of the Democratic party only drive US-marque cars.

[BW: This answer gets points for postmodern cultural theorizing -- rare
on this network -- but is, I think, empirically wrong (only BMW Marketing
knows for sure). I've lived in the NE, the west coast, and Ontario,
Canada, and my surmise is that there is a tendency for people driving
"foreign cars," especialy European ones, to be more liberal
than most (once wealth/income are controlled for), with
Republicans/conservatives more likely to drive American. (Well, I can
picture Kemp in a BMW, but not Dole.)

There were no responses to my similar quiz about Ari Onassis' fantasy
bimmer, but it should be obvious: the world's only AWD, bulletproof
Isetta; perfect for tooling around his private Greek island.

And further reflection suggests, dole-fully [I couldn't resist], that
Teddy Kennedy may be driving an iX: the AWD does help steering on slippery
roads & bridges.
