Now this I have to disagree with I always know roughly what speed I am
going, not necessary by looking at the speedo but a combination of
sound of the car, current gear and the passing objects with occasional
glances at the rev and speedo dials.

Now this I agree with you. It really worries me that this countries law
enforcers will do this. One evening a group of three of us received Jay
Walking tickets (crossing against Don't Walk to be exact). The bail
amount was only $50 but we were adamant of our innocence and each took
an afternoon to fight each case at a much greater cost. The dates were
all separate and we all defended our self. Each time the police man
altered his 'story' to counter anything anyone said and generally
outright lied. If these people are willing to lie over a $50 ticket how
can we trust them with greater matters?
