Subject: Dinan Chip
I just got off the phone with a Dinan rep here in the SF Bay Area. I
asked him if he was willing to pricematch Noble's price ($379.00) for
a performance chip package of engine and transmission chips for a 92
525i automatic. Dinan's price was $595.00 without tax still.
They were unwilling to pricematch to my surprise (and my jaw hit the
floor). I did not press for an explaination since I was so stunned.

Evans,
I believe the reason that the difference in price has to do with other
sellers of the chip buying them in bulk loads, which often enables the
seller to sell to consumers for a cheaper price. I also had spoken with a
Dinan rep about their price and I asked him why, for instance, Bavarian
Autosport was selling the chip for a cheaper price. His response was that
"Bavarian Autosport probably bought the chips in bulk, and therefore could
sell the chips for a lower price."
