Changing the oil drain plug crush washer with each change will make this
situation less likely to occur (use aluminum or copper). For a rounded off
drain plug, I've had good luck with the E-Z Off sockets. These sockets come
in 11 different sizes and rap onto the rounded hex nut or bolt (the teeth in
the socket will bite into the fastener) and a 3/8" ratchet is used to remove
the fastener. Most shops should have such a tool to get you through this
problem (make sure you've got a new replacement drain plug). I stock and
sell these sockets if you have a need and can't find them locally. SD
