I had the same problem on my 525i - it's particulary bad in cold weather. In my case it was caused by the transparent adhesive door liner film sticking to the operating link. Just remove the door lining and look for where the film touches the operating link. Clean off the stickum on the link and possibly put a bit of teflon tape over it. DaveE.
