320i engine removal

  I'm about to overhaul the engine in a 78 320i (4 speed), and I'm curious
as to wether its better to pull the gearbox or leave it in the car. I'll be
pulling the car in the garage to yank the motor, but I'll have to move the
car back out of the garage while I redo the motor.  Anyone have any
experiences they could share?
