Hi Marvin,
I'm assuming that when you say the pedal died, you mean that there is no
pressure to release the clutch, right? The first thing to check is whether
or not there is any hydralic fluid in the clutch master cylinder. That's
the one that is shared by the brake master cylinder. If you note that the
level is low....you have either a defective master or clutch slave cylinder.
(Unfortunate terms, being the 90's and all)
It's been my experience that the slave cylinder (at the transmission) is the
culprit. You can tell be checking to see if there is brake fluid leaking
out of it. If you find brake fluid leaking onto you sock....the master has
puked. Experts say to replace them as a set, but us cheap guys usually
just replace the defective component and wait thill the next time to do the
other.
