V8 Engine Problem
I have recieved quite a bit of information regarding the problems
encountered with cylinder malfunction due to sulfa content in gasoline. I
attempted to sumarize everything that I recieved and got nowhere. So, I'll
foward to the list most of what I recieved....It seems the problem is
somewhat isolated and not as widespread as some believe. Driving habits (
Fast is GOOD! ), type of gas ( unclear as to which brand is best as many
gasolines are mixed and exchanged between suppliers ), date car was built,
etc are all factors. For those with 1995 and newer models it would seem the
problem was either "fixed" ( more likely ) or a newer type engine installed
( doubtful ). The 1997 models are not affected and anyone with an older
model should check with their dealer as to the status of their engine.
Finally, I would like to thank everyone who took the time and effort to
reply....As this is my first BMW in some time it's nice to know their are
people, other than the dealer's crew, to turn to for advice.....Paul Krieger
