Re: M635 Clunking & fuel starvation

Juan,

I have a 90 525 and am getting similar rear end clunking noises when I back down
my inclined driveway and apply the brakes (even moderately). I am thinking it
might be the rear shocks. I am going to try to isolate the problem this
weekend.

I am also getting a front end clunk at very low speeds. I, again, think it
might be a front strut problem. I don't have any oil leaking from them but the
car has 101k miles on it.

As far as your fuel starvation problem, I have heard that BMW fuel pumps are
very susceptible to failure if allowed to pump dry (sweeping corner with little
gas in the tank). I rarely let my gas level get down near Empty and if it does,
I take it *real* slow around corners.

As far as your plastic fender arches go, I can't help you as I have no
experience with them.

If you find out anything about the front or rear clunking noise, I would
appreciate it if you would forward responses to me and I'll do the same. Good
luck!

Pete
